Hello Bully Alumni

Meet just a few of Hello Bully’s Alumni! These dogs started in foster or at The Hello Bully Halfway House and went on to find their forever families with the support of Hello Bully volunteers.

Linus came to our family around his 1st Birthday. As soon as he met our other Pit Bull, Lucy, and we saw them romp around in the yard together, we knew he was perfect for our family. Linus’ life started out rough but, the hard part ended quickly when he was rescued from a suspected dog fighter in Jacksonville, Florida in 2011. He came straight to our house from Jacksonville and we haven’t looked back since! Linus now has two human brothers, Noah and Eli, as well as his canine sister, Lucy. Linus quickly received his Canine Good Citizen Award and makes appearances at Hello Bully events on occasion. He likes to sleep in his spare time but, will NEVER miss an opportunity to eat! He will show you his silly side at least once a day but, mostly he just wants to lie on top of you as if he were your blanket. If you don’t want Linus on top of you, your best bet is to stay standing!

Marco (formerly Bartlett) has been a great addition to our family; he not only has warmed a spot in our hearts but has also warmed a spot on our bed. He greets everyone with hugs and kisses, from relatives to the mailman. He is goofy, energetic, and full of love and wiggles. Marco is a true representation of his breed: loyal, friendly, and craves attention. We are signed up for our third obedience class and although I might be biased, he’s one of the best in class. Our instructors comment often on what a great dog he is and I plan to get him certified as a therapy dog. He really likes car rides and accompanied us all the way to Vero Beach, Florida where he spent most of his days digging huge holes in the sand and playing in the ocean. I cannot imagine my life without this big block head! He loves his sister, our 8-year-old Lab/Pit mix, Isabella, and has brought out the puppy in her again! It’s safe to say he’s spoiled and has truly found his forever home. Marco will have much love for the rest of his life.

Princess “Pear” Bear was graciously rescued from a three-countywide dog-fighting ring in North Carolina in 2013, shortly before her third birthday. While in protective custody awaiting release, her emaciated little body persevered and birthed four puppies. One life quickly turned to five that would no longer know a life tethered to a heavy chain. Shortly thereafter, through the Humane Society of the United States’ Dog-Fighting Rescue Coalition, Pear, along with her puppies, prepared for and made their freedom ride to Hello Bully in Pittsburgh, PA.

Pear quickly embraced her new lease on life, thrived in her rehabilitation regime, and learned what it was like to just be a dog. Pear completed courses in basic obedience, selected a foster home, and chose her forever human. Pear’s perseverance to lead a fulfilling life continued as she achieved her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) accreditation and ultimately became a Hello Bully Spokesbull! With such an impressive list of accomplishments for such a petite girl in under nine months, she settled in her new home and finished out 2013 with frequent naps and started an ever-growing collection of her favorite toy; the tennis ball.

Pear quickly gained celebrity status in Pittsburgh, and launched her own social media in late 2014 to spread the word on the many wonderful services Hello Bully has to offer. Pear proudly stands in the limelight, showing the world her “spoiled” yet regal ambassador American Pit Bull Terrier personality that shines with every human and animal she meets.

Clementine Louise and I met in August 2011 while I was deployed to North Carolina with the Humane Society of the United States to help care for more than 50 dogs seized from a suspected dogfighter. She was 4 months old at the time, underweight, had a large abscess of unknown origin on her head, and was my constant companion during puppy play groups. It was love at first sight. I assisted with her transport home to Pittsburgh a few days later. She fit into our family immediately.

Nowadays, Clementine — known as LEMS! to her friends — is a smart, playful 3-year-old who loves to learn new things. She enjoys bedtime, playing with her pit bull brother and best friend Grady, trying to understand her cat brother Richard, road trips to Grandma and Grandpa’s, and following her dad everywhere he goes. We’re so happy to have this goofy little lady in our lives!
